Happy New Year! Most of us have already committed to our 2017 New Year's resolutions, however if you have the space on your list and are the sort who loves a warm burning candle to enhance the ambiance of your room, we have one more resolution to consider adding to your list....."I will always follow proper candle care"! It's not hard to do and will help you enjoy your candles much longer and with a very bright glow! Here's our simple list;
When you light your candle for the 1st time, burn the candle 1 hour for every 1 inch in diameter to establish a ‘burn pool’ and to prevent future tunneling. Tunneling occurs when the candle burns straight down the middle and not evenly out to the edges. This could result in drowning of the wick and a short life to your candle.
Subsequent burns should be long enough to keep the burn pool the same size.
Do not place candles in a draft as it causes uneven burning and dripping - especially for tapers.
Always leave at least 4 inches between burning candles if you have multiple candles in a center piece or table display.
Extinguish the candle with a minimum of 1/2 inch of candle wax left in order to prevent damage to your candle holders.
Never leave a burning candle unattended and always burn candles out of reach of children and pets.
We hope these tips assist you to not only enjoy your candles to their fullest, but also help you to have a very Happy, Healthy, and Candle Lit New Year!
Here's to a Heartfelt 2017.
