At the start of the New Year we wanted to thank all of you that have supported us on this journey – customers, friends, family, and all of our followers! Thumbprint Artifacts grew at an astounding rate last year, doubling our previous year sales.
The journey began three years ago when Kris came up with the idea that we could purchase gorgeous, handcrafted items in South Africa and sell them to the US market. Our initial concept was to have a gifting web site; however the success that we have experienced on the wholesale-side of the business was so favorable that we decided to alter our business plan. Our products are now in some of the country’s largest museums, art galleries, gift shops, online stores, and even on the front cover of a holiday catalog. It really is quite exciting!
There are two things that I like most about my role in the company. First, I love talking to our customers. They are the best. I love it when they call and since many have been customers for a couple years, it feels like a friend is calling, not a “business” call. Second, I love the interaction with customers at the gift shows in Las Vegas and New York. It is so fun to share the story of the artisans and to engage customers in our journey of helping to change the lives of the artisans, their families and the communities where they live by purchasing an item.
Equally exciting to what I do here in the States, is what Kris does when she is in South Africa meeting with our current artisans, as well as searching for new items to add to our portfolio of product offerings. She is also creating a video of the artisans so that you can see the impact that you make with the purchase of our products. These artisans, mainly women, have so little and yet they are so happy. We will let you know when the video is ready for viewing!
Thank you again for your support. Best wishes for a fabulous New Year!
Becky
